Brigette started circle wearing a wig due to social discomfort but after an exchange trip to New Orleans -where circle she discovered a real community around wigs and weaves - she decided wigs weren't for her.
"When I came back to Australia I decided to shave it off because there's always this fear when you wear a wig if it's a windy day your wig might come off and you can't go out dancing with your girlfriends without this fear of it being shown or go swimming or have that youthful life that I think I needed.

hi brigette.i also have alopecia.i am now going into my fourth year totally bald.i circle guess looking circle back i was pretty lucky to have had hair for 41yrs.yes there are times when i would love to have my hair back.what has helped me to come to terms with it is that im a hairdresser and am still working as a hairdresser.the reality of it is, that for us, it is an autoimmune disorder that has certainly challenged many professional doctors,specialists.i too am wanting more woman in particular to be accepting and brave .be proud and go out bald,why circle cant woman be excepted bald! women choose to be blonde,brown,red,short or long haired.we dont judge them on colour length or thickness.we except the look they choose.unfortunately we were not given the choice..but i will be brave,bald and embrace it, for it is what it is.just cosmetic.
