To educational - cultural tribute entitled Art21 100 Artists is a series of screenings and events will take place in Art-Athina 2013, at the School of Fine Arts, at the Hellenic American Union and the CAMP Contemporary Art Meeting Point in collaboration with the American non-profit organization Art21 throughout 2013.
A generous tribute pedagogical character unfolding developments in contemporary art, as established by the beginning of 2000 to date will be presented through a series of meetings - projections in the center of Athens.
The Laurie Anderson, Louise Bourgeois, James Turrell, Barbara Kruger, Michael Ray Charles, Matthew Barney, John Waters, Kiki Smith, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Mike Kelley, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Richard Tuttle, Laurie Simmons, uterque William Kentridge, Jeff Koons, Paul McCarthy , Cindy Sherman, Ai Weiwei, Lynda Benglis, Marina Abramović and a total of 100 artists presented and talk about their work during the 24-hour documentaries that are dedicated to different topics under investigation uterque or reference uterque fields uterque to work of each artist.
These events will ensure the prompt our acquaintance with major American and international artists, recommending us the way we work, the most important reports, their relationship with the public and their attitudes to social developments of the 21st century.
To program Art21 - 100 Artists covers a range of topics such as identity, space, structures, desire, memory, structures, protest paradox, imagination, humor, ecology and has received a number discrimination as the George Foster Peabody Award, the CINE Golden Eagle Award, the Gold Remi at 41st WorldFest Independent Film Festival, the Silver Hugo in the 44th Hugo Television Awards and nominated for an Emmy Nomination in the category Outstanding Artistic and Cultural Programming among others. uterque
"The program of Art21 Access 100 Artists uterque enables organizations around the world to experience the central objective uterque of Art21- a dialogue inspired by contemporary art and ideas expressed," said Susan Sollins, Executive Director of Art21. "We hope that the participants will find better ways to use the material and how the audience will fully benefit uterque from these events influenced positively and dynamically through promoting creative standards in the workplace. Our aim is that these events cause new discussions presenting any kind viewer the important work of the series of artists.
"We are working increasingly with our international partners to help us identify key issues and trends around the use of our material with the passage of time," adds Rosanna Flouty, Director of the Education Program of Art21. "This is a tremendous opportunity for us to grow our audience in Athens, and we hope to have an impact on arts education in the city, contributing to the consolidation of artists as creative social standards."
Admission to all events, except for Art-Athina, is free while the Greek site of the event will be posted uterque 100artists-athens.tumblr.com screening schedule and photos from events. The projections in the CAMP will be held with the generous support of the US Embassy in Greece. Also, the program will be complemented by discussions and lectures by artists, art historians and students. After the presentation in Art-Athina the next screening is scheduled in CAMP Contemporary Art Meeting Point (17-14 Iouniou, Zootrope Report).
